1. No. This is just so goddanmed stupid. Recorded history did not begin on Oct 7th. It's so wildly ahistorical to ignore the past 76 years and declare Hamas the aggressor because of what they did on one day. Again, Hamas wouldn't even exists if not for Netanyahu.
This is exactly as simplistic as saying that the U.S> was the aggressor when it dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You can criticise those attacks, as I do, but it's asinine to claim America was simply the aggressor.
2. Please don't be facetious. I mean reasonableness as regards their numerous violations of international law. Their decades long campaign of land theft that has run through Zionism since even before Israel existed. They have exhibited no reasonableness whatsoever with regard to these crimes. The bulk of the focus should be on stopping them from killing Palestinians at their whim with no pushback or condemnation. How do you not understand that cause and effect also applies to the Palestinian people???
As for timescale, no, I'm talking about the only timescale that has any meaning. Even if we ignore the fact that Zionist settler terrorism was taking place before 1948, let's pretend that in 1948 Jews and Arabs were living more or less peacefully in the land then called Palestine.
What "started" the current conflict is that a bunch of Jews, mainly from Europe, arrived on the land, told the people living there they had to leave (or killed them) and set about a process of stealing more and more of Greater Israel. This process, Zionism, is responsible for the 76-year-war we're seeing today.
The reason it seems as if you've given no thought to what Israel could do is that you never, ever talk about it. You talk as if this entire 76-year-situation started on October 7th, ignoring vast swathes of history that you're probably not even aware you're ignoring, and then presenting "solutions" that reward Israel for its crimes by allowing them to keep the land they've stolen until the Palestinians recognise their right to have stolen it and "buy it back" (also ignoring that Israeli law makes that impossible).
Hamas wouldn't exist without the history I'm describing. Palestine was a one-state solution that was more or less working, certainly better than anything that's happened since. And the colonial arrogance of the British and the fundamentalist avarice of the Zionist movement turned it into the current disaster. Palestinian recognition of Israel under the 1967 borders is already an enormous concession on their part. Far, far greater than simply asking Israel to obey international law.
So yes, the Zionist creation of Israel required a cruel, invading force. And that's what happened. Previous leaders like David Ben Gurion were at least honest about this. This cruelty predates 1948. The IDF today perpetuates and advances that cruelty. So I don't care how Netanyahu reacts to an objective description of what he and previous leaders have done. The reflexive pandering you people have towards Israel is fascinating. "Of course Netanyahu will stay in power if you mean people keep pointing out how despotic he is 🥺👉👈"
You're allowed to say somebody is evil if they behave in evil ways.
The Palestinians have persistently fought back against this invasion. As any people have the right to do. That fighting has gone on for so long and become so bitter and extremist that it's reached the horrifying, disgusting level it has now. But there's no mistaking who "started" it.
So if you're unaware of this history, there are several resources I can point you towards. But right now you sound like a guy trying to be "reasonable" while unaware of his blindspots and of vast amounts of this history.
