100% this. It's the algorithm that's the cause of the really extreme polarisation I think. People are quite literally living in different realities, where they simply aren't exposed to certain facts about the world or where they're repreatedly exposed to lies disguised as facts.

I've had some interesting conversations in the comments here, where people have accused "the left" or "the right" of doing something without realiseing tha there are clear counterexamples of "their side" doing the same thing. It's really about regularly asking ourselves to critique "our side" with the same diligence as we critique "the other".
