Absolutely! This is my issue. When everything is called "racist", it's harder to get actual racism taken seriously.

In addition, it promotes this idea that black people are sensitive, vindictive snowflakes who you have to watch every word when you're around because if you say something that even might be considered offensive, you'll find yourself on Twitter.

And lastly, it does what you describe here. It trains some black people to move through the world looing for racism in. Every. Single. Interaction.

We don't talk enough about how psychologically damaging that is, and how it's so largely self-imposed. When racism is portrayed as this all pervasive force that black people can achieve nothing in the face of, even though neither half of that sentence is true, we disempower black people, and young black people most of all.
