Actually it's even simpler than that. I'm not at war with anybody, I don't need "allies". I just want fellow human beings. Friends who will stand up for me when I'm being unfairly treated, just as I'd stand up for them.

I don't need them to think about me and my needs every minute of every day. I don't need them to agree with everything I say or preemptively understand everything I go through. I don't need or want them to die for me. I just want them to see me as more than the colour of my skin.
