Again, *directly* below that, I point out that this doesn't mean that there aren't good police officers. I repeatedly point out that being a police officer is a difficult job and that most of them do it well. I even specifically mention officers like Cariol Horne and Krystal Smith who did step in when it was necessary.

It seems that you think I haven't represented that side of the argument and I'm not sure why. Though to describe Noah's comment as "despicable" is bizzare. It's a fair question.

In a scenario where one person is carrying a number of weapons, some lethal, has broad power to interfere in the lives of anybody they choose, and has sworn an oath to protect and serve the person who they are harming for no reacon other than their ego, of course people call for understanding for the citizen. I simply can't understand how you think this is surprising. The power dynamic is completely shifted in favour of the cop.

You talk about the things that Nazario did to "muddy the water". How do you not see that Guttierez is far more guilty of that? How do you defend his unnecessary verbal threats, which would make anybody in their right mind afraid to get out of the car (Guttierez's own police chief criticised him for this)? How do you defend his choice to put his weapon away while standing *right next to the car*, clearly indicating that he no longer saw Nazario as a threat, but to pepper-spray him instead of lowering his voice and answering his perfectly reasonable question (Again, Guttierez's own police chief criticised him for this)? How do you not see that your desire to defend this behaviour which Guttierez's police chief described as inexcusable is exactly the emotional response that you're accusing others of?

Again, it seems that the debate about the police is split between those who are determined to "defund" at all costs, and those determined to "defend" at all costs. Both sides are wrong. I'm absolutely not anti-police. They do a difficult and valuable job and they deserve to be respected for that. But that doesn't place them beyond criticism when they cross the line. I'm still not clear on why you think it does.
