Also, I wonder how long this falsehood is going to persist. I'm not accusing you of lying, I know that you'll hear the "totally reversible" line thousands of times a day in some circles, but it's simply not true.

At best, there isn't enough data on long term use to make this claim. But all the data available suggests that there are health risks associated with using them for the amount of time many trans identifying kids do. The idea that they're some harmless "pause" button has been widely debunked.

And that's aside from the question of the ~85% of kids who desist from trans identities once they go through puberty. And just to be clear, I'm not saying this because I think it's a net good if kids don't grow up to be trans. I think it's a net good if kids end up living happy lives without being put onto a medical pathway, with high complication rates, that will last them the rest of their lives.

I've written numerous times about solutions that I hope would work for trans people. I've written an article detailing why I think trans people should use the bathroom that corresponds to their gender identity instead of their sex. I've written an article about trans people in sport and a solution that I think is fair and inclusive. I just can't fit the entirety of the trans rights debate into every article.
