As soon as you go there, you become the same as them. the rules are the only thing that separate or that can separate the good people from the bad people. There is no other line.

We're all capable of atrocities. We all think we're correct. But as a friend of mine said recently, if you're so right that anything you do in service if your rightness is justified, you're wrong.

The point the article makes is that while there were undoubtedly slaves committed to the extinguishing of the American government and white America's way of life, there was a reason for that. And once that reason was addressed, the black people who hated white people had better things to do than kill white people. In fact, it was still almost entirely white people killing slaves.

Terrorism is an ideology. It needs ordinary people willing to fight for it. And people who have their freedom, and the chance to build a life with their children, are far less amenable to war than those who are denied that.
