Come on man, if you disagree with me then disagree with something I've written. I'm not going to waste either of our time arguing with obvious misrepresentations of what I wrote.
And yes, that incompetence does manifest during interactions with white people. The entire reason I'm confident writing this is that I've done that research. Tell you what, what do you think the odds of an unarmed black person being killed by the police is in any given year? Give me a ball park figure. Or give me the name of a non-Black person who was killed under similar circumstances to George Floyd. Can you do it?
The problem I'm pointing to in this article is that so much of this conversation is being dominated by a warped view of racial issues that we're focusing all of our attention in the wrong places and, in some cases, employing solutions that only stand to actually harm black people, especially black kids.
You'll never find me arguing against a racist cop being sent to jail. You'll never find me arguing that the police don't need to be held accountable. You'll never find me arguing that we shouldn't be talking about and fighting racism.
I'm saying let's make sure we're really fighting racism and not lining the pockets of people who don't give a shit about the community. I'm saying let's not have our understanding of the probem warped by a news media that doesn't give a shit about black people and is just monetising our suffering on the TV every night. I'm saying let's not embrace a mindset that black people are only interesting if we're talking about racism or racial stereotypes.
