Definitely true, but I suspect those days are dying. Newsrooms are businesses at the end of the day. And outrage is where most of the profit is. Not only that, but any human-led business is going to make less money in the social media age.

So even in the case of human teams, there's a strong incentive to deliver news in a biased, partisan, sensationalist way. The only solution that I can currently see, is for people to actively look outside of their bubble for news.

If you get all of your news from the same source, don't check quotes and sources whenever possible, and don't look at the same story as presented by left and right wing media, you're almost certainly getting a very partial view of the facts. This is fine, of course. Nobody needs to be perfectly informed on every topic. But the important stuff? It's amazing how badly misled some people have been by biased coverage.
