Ideas
Do Ideas Have Expiry Dates?
As I write this, I have over forty unfinished drafts awaiting my attention.
These aren’t tiny snippets that I can’t figure out how to turn into ideas, some of them are over a thousand words long. They’re tantalisingly “almost there” pieces which just need a little love and attention and they’ll be ready to have their moment in the sun. Most of them would need an hour’s work, tops.
So why are they still languishing on my hard drive? Because I had a new idea.
It’s something of a blessing and a curse that my mind is constantly pitching me with new ideas. And because fresh, exciting ideas are always on the way, I can literally feel my interest in an older idea begin to wane if I don’t convert it within a day or two.
Maybe that’s just the way it is. Maybe those half-finished ideas just weren’t strong enough to make it out of the crucible of my feeble attention span.
Or maybe I should learn to write faster.
