Even though you've somehiow managed to comment on the wrong article I'll answer this. This kind of false equivalence only highlights your inability to align your thoughts between left and right.

The rioting across America over the summer was indefensible. It did nothing to further the rights of black people, it did nothing to shift policy in our favour. It was wrong and everybody who damaged property or was involved in violence should be arrested.

Now. If the protest at the Capitol had simply been people protesting, or even mindlessly smashing windows, you'd have a valid comparison. In fact, I'd agree with you that the BLM rioting was worse.

But a number of people at the Capitol (I'll freely admit not all) went there with the intention of stopping the certification of a fair, democratic election. They chanted for the death of Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi, they tried to storm the chambers, and they did so purely because they wanted to overturn democracy.

The argument that it wasn't a coup is a naive argument grounded entirely in the fact that it wasn't succeesful. That's why it was a failed coup. But if they'd been able to stop that certification, they absolutely would have.

As far as people of colour who voted for Trump. If they voted for Trump purely because of these riots, then frankly I STILL don't understand them. The rioting happened WHILE TRUMP WAS PRESIDENT! What kind of logic is it to vote for the guy who has not only contributed massively to racial tension, but has failed to effectively deal with the consequences of it. That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard.
