EXACTLY!! Same for questions like "if you've ever been the only person in the room of your race". I live in a white majority country, so yes, that's happened. It's fine. The same thing is far more likely to happen when I go to Asia, am I being oppressed there too?
This stuff actively teaches children to be upset about things that are largely insignificant, or, in the case of surnames for example, that the problem is their race instead of the fact that some names are more commonly heard than others. I have far more surname privilege than you! 😄
I completely agree. teach kids about history, teach them about each other, teach them about the realities of society. But teaching them about a tiny part is, in some ways, worse than not teaching them anything.
