First of all, as you must be aware, Gaza is not a democracy. The last vote in Gaza took place when around half the people living there today wren't even born.
Second, no, this is insane. why can't you grasp the cause and effect this?
Consider Netanyahu's famous quote, "if the Palestinians laid down their weapons there would be no more violence. If the Israelis laid down their weapons there would be no more Israel."
Okay, let's start by looking at what that "non-violence" would look like. It would look like the continued theft of land in the West Bank through settlements. It would look like the continued occupation of the West Bank and the apartheid system on place there. It would (probably) look like the lifting of the blockade in Gaza, but still significant controls over movement and trade.
In other words, it would look like surrender to the oppression and slow erasure that Israel is already imposing, only now on a permanent basis.
Now let's consider what the Palestinians (and the entire international community except the U.S.) are asking Israel to do in exchange for the Palestinians putting down their weapons: A withdrawal to the internationally recognised 1967 borders, the cessation of the illegal settler activities, the right of return or compensation to people who had their homes stolen in 1948.
In other words, acting in accordance with international law. Again, almost the entire international community, something like 153 countries support this plan. Israel gets to "exist," the Palestinians get a portion of their land back in perpetuity, nobody else dies, the only countries against this plan are, you guessed it, Israel and the U.S.
Israel's problem is that it wants "peace" but wants to hold onto all of the ill-gotten gains that have led inevitably to war. And, indeed, it wants to continue to gain more. This is not peace in any meaningful sense of the word.
