Good God man, please just stop and actually think about what you're saying. First of all, I'm not saying that everything in the US is about black people. I've devoted thousands of words to pointing out that's not true right here on Medium.

But just as you're railing against a piece of writing that you haven't even bothered to learn the name of, you're talking about racism in America from what I can only presume is a place of profound ignorance. You don't seem like a bad guy either, I'm not trying to be mean, but you're so completely missing the point.

You think white racists aren't killing black people today? Google Dylan Roof, or George Zimmerman, or Lawrence Scarsella, or the men who killed Ahmaud Arbery, or even James Brown, who burned a cross on an African American's lawn last year.

You're comparing apples with apples? Really? Show me how the 1619 project has done anything even remotely comparable. I'll wait. (Oh, by the way, the last racist lynching happened in 1981, not 75 years ago. And they certainly didn't only happen in "backward states".)

I completely agree with you that there are racists on the left and on the right. I completely agree that there are black racists and white racists. But man, if you think that a piece of bad academic writing is WORSE than what's been happening and is still happening to black people in America today, if you have that little interest in what's happening to people who don't look like you, then your attitude is exactly how the people stirring up anti-white racism justify it.

They see how little you care, and so they think, "Screw it, I don't care about what happens to any of them either then." I'm not saying that's right, but it's not difficult to understand. You have to see your part in this if you really want to end it.
