Ha, I'm just having a conversation about this on my Substack. I think the question of "why now" is a red herring.
I mean, the most obvious answer is that it's not just now. People have been talking about Brand's behaviour for years. It just always seems to take years for them to be taken seriously.
Secondly, there's the fact that this documentary was likely years in the making, so it's not like they aimed for "now." Now is just when it came out.
And lastly, it's not as if a) Brand was saying anything particularly novel or insightful about the "establishment", or b) that people like Epstein or Cosby or R Kelly or Weinstein, none of whom were criticising the "establishment", weren't also found guilty years after the fact. Welcome to the world of women trying to prosecute men for sexual assault.
In the end, it's always possible to ask "why now?" But that doesn't mean there's actually a conspiracy. At least, unless you're aware of something Brand (and only Brand) was saying that might have angered the elites?
