Haha, yes. But it doesn't usually fall apart immediately unless the allegory is about something other than what you're insisting it's about. Netanyahu didn't have to use allegory at all. He could have just spoken about destroying Hamas. But he chose to use one of the most genocidal stories in the Bible to send his message. A story that specifically commands killing women and children and reducing their nation to rubble. And he just so happens to do this as he’s busy killing women and children and reducing Gaza to rubble.
Allegory indeed.
The only reason I called this a dog whistle rather than an outright call to genocide is that he didn’t literally say, “let’s kill everybody in Gaza,” which seems to be the level of candour you’re looking for. But it’s worth noting that Hitler didn’t say that about the Jews either, but no serious person is arguing about what Hitler meant (it’s also worth noting that members of the Israel’s government have gone further in their rhetoric even than Hitler did).
So yes, the reason I’m “suggesting” that Netanyahu was referring to Gaza, other than the other very obvious reasons already given, is that there are no women and children in Hamas. If you think a politician as canny as Netanyahu thoughtlessly invoked a tale about slaughtering women and children without thinking about the actual text, never mind the subtext, I'm really not sure what to tell you. This is wilful ignorance on a scale I wouldn't previously have believed.
