Hmm, let's just say that my experience has been very different from yours. I don't think you'll find many black people who aren't activists who refer to themselves as BIPOC. Being in a room with people who use the term is not the same as using it yourself.

That's not to say that black people don't use the term though, of course. Black people call each other ni**er too! The point I'm making is that it's just another term to "other" and collectivise black people. And yes, sadly, in 2022, some black people are absolutely complicit in that.
