I agree with all of this. You're completely right (except that he was aided and abetted by a parent. This was one of many examples of inaccurate reporting). But none of it changes the fact that if the looters hadn't been setting fire to Kenosha, or if the police had taken action, there wouldn't have been a chaotic mob situation for him to insert himself into.

That doesn't excuse Rittenhouse's actions. Not at all. It's just about looking at the whole context.
