I already read it. I actually think this is an incredibly bad take. Amy Cooper's motivation was clearly racist.
I'm not saying Christian was an angel, but he doesn't need to be. If she'd called the police and said there's a man threatening my dog there'd have been no issue (though "threatening" would be a little melodramatic, he offered it treats for God's sake).
Instead, she pretended that he was threatening her personally when, if anything, she was physically threatening him as you can see clearly in the video when she approaches him aggressively and tries to smac k the phone out of his hand, all while he politely asks her bnot to get close to him (I thought it was interesting that Melissa's article doesn't even mention this).
She cited his race, what, three of four times during the brief call to the police? As well as that fake panicked hysteria she affected for added drama. And Christian left the scene the moment she put the leash on her dog which, if we remember, she was obliged to do.
Amy clearly and knowingly tried to leverage the fact that she was a white woman accusing him, a black man, against him and lied to the police in the process (remember, the police would have charged Amy, but Christioan refused to cooperate, saying he didn't want to add to the pile on. Another point Melisa's article ignores). And sadly, the only reason we're clear about any of this, is because he had the foresight to pull out his camera. So it's a bit infuriating to see people still trying to undermine the facts of the case.
