I don't keep stating how non-transphobic I am. I'm simply not transphobic. No offence, but I don't care if you, a complete stranger, think I am.

And no, I don't think the entire issue of women's sport is "minutiae". I also don't understand, as I may have said already, how more trans people don't see the harm this issue is doing to public perception of trans people. It's like you're handing the christian right all the tools they need to fear-monger about trans people in wider society and then complaining that they use them.

As I said, I don't deny at all that some people hate and fear trans people. But there are so many areas in which some people within the trans community give them the ammunition they need. I see exactly the same thing in some so-called "anti-racist" activism. It's so frustrating.

And yes, I understand that no trans people think they’re identical to trans women. But the push is a) for trans women to be treated as identical to women in every single way, and b) to have the criteria for inclusion in the category of women be nothing more than "I say I'm a woman". If we agreed that a "lack of certain body parts" was a meaningful criteria for a definition of "woman" we wouldn't be having this conversation, and you wouldn't be questioning my use or lack thereof of the term "cis."

But actually, that's a fairly good example. Honestly, I don't use the term "cis" because I'm tired of all the semantic games. I care about trans people, as I care about all people. I regularly stand up for trans people online and in real life (including physically on more than one occasion). If the only way I can prove my support to you is by using terms that the majority of people who don't live their lives online don't understand, or by ignoring blatant unfairness in sport, I guess I won't be able to prove it to you. But if these are your standards, you're going to alienate a lot of people who genuinely do care about your community.

p.s. I don't know who Roger Maris is. I'm happy to be judged by my words and actions, but not by somebody else's.
