I have absolutely no patience for the, "I think that person is bad so I will ignore everything they've ever said" style of argumentation. I don't agree with Lineham on a lot of things. Just as I don't agree with Walsh on a lot of things. But he has collected a list of examples of the things people commonly claim "NeVeR hApPeN", so I use it as a reference.

I've verified independently many of the cases in his list to ensure that it wasn't just his bias talking. You're free to do the same. If you reject information based on who said it versus whether it's true, you force yourself to remain ignorant.

And no, I don't accept the claim that this is simply a rhetorical device. People commonly argue that these things literally never happen. But okay, let's accept your framing. What, exactly, is the number of sexual assaults and rape we need to have evidence of before we can admit that this does, in fact happen? Please put a number on it. You won't of course.

I know that cis men do this in far greater numbers. That is literally the entire point. No, we don't harass and abuse men, and I haven't harassed or abused trans people. But you know what we do do?

WE KEEP THEM OUT OF WOMEN'S SPACES!!!

Now, to be clear, I'm not arguing for a ban on trans women in female spaces. I'm arguing for a more sensible standard of womanhood than "I say I'm a woman," before we allow males into female spaces. I'm arguing against the fact that it’s impossible to claim that I, right now, am not a woman by the definition written into law in some cases in the US and UK.

Yes, I am smart and self-aware. Does it cross your mind, therefore, that you might be the one who's missing something?
