I haven't made any caveats. I simply don't tend to speak in sweeping generalisations. The majority of people, Israel, Palestinian and others, simply want to live their lives in peace, dignity and freedom. The Palestinians are not Hamas, The Jews are not Israel or the Israeli government, the slaves were not Nat Turner.

But if you oppress people, some of them will hate/try to kill you. History has shown us many times that the oppressors will then often use that minority as proof that the entire oppressed group deserves to be oppressed, instead of recognising their part in making the group hate them.

There is no “true villain.” This is a child’s thinking. Hamas are wrong, the Israeli government is wrong, and the innocent people who suffer deserve better.

This actually isn't a provocative or controversial position at all. Except to the oppressors and their defenders.
