I honestly can't conceive of what it's like to be this simple-minded/short-sighted on a topic yet still feel compelled to talk about it.

I've seen this moronic "what is Israel supposed to do?" question approximately 1 billion times at this point, I feel as if I've answered it at leat that many times, I've written entire articles explaining the answer in the simplest terms I can think of, yet living avatars of the Dunning-Kruger effect such as yourself keep proffering it to me anew as if it's some great, show-stopping insight.

To use an example I've already used, in 1831, Nat Turner, a slave, killed around sixty white people in Southampton County, including women, children and even babies, in an attempted rebellion.

What should those slaveowners do?

Well, what they actually did was use a militia of around 3000 men to crush the rebellion. That's fair enough when viewed from a certain, extraordinarily narrow perspective. But of course, the real solution, the solution that would have prevented the rebellion from even taking place, would be to FREE THE F*CKING SLAVES.

Or let's try another example. A heavily-armed man from abroad breaks into your house one day and moves his extended family in with him (a great, great, great, great, great, great uncle used to live in the house thousands of years ago, he explains). He's much bigger and stronger than you, and proceeds to kill your parents and some of your kids, takes control of the food, water and electricity supplies to your home, rationing them out to you as he sees fit, designates most of the house for himself, stealing more whenever some new relatives arrive, and punches you and your family vigorously in the face every time you object.

The police, sadly, refuse to get involved.

If, one day, you find a way to strike back at him, and are so radicalised by frustration and hate at this point that you kill some members of his family in the process, what should he do? Pack up his weapons and go home? Live alongside you in your home as an equal? Sit down with you and negotiate a deal that allows you both to fairly divvy up the home that is thankfully more than big enough for both of you, but recognises that he is almost entirely responsible for creating this problem?

Gimme a break, amirite? Obviously he should “seek and destroy” you, killing whichever other members of your family he pleases in the process, because everything that happened before your attack is cherrypicked peripheral and historical data. 🙄
