I know the feeling. I wish I hadn't read this comment. But here we are.
1. Wrong.
2. Why don't you read the comments of the black people here too? Or are we the wrong kind of black people for you?
3. I don't do demographic checks on my readership. I'd rather just tell th truth and let the chips fall where they may.
4. Wrong.
5. I'm not coming to the rescue of white women at all. The piece isn't about white women. It's about the people, like Mr. Joseph, damaging the legitimacy of genuine attempts to talk about racism by crying "racism" whenever he wants to raise his profile.
If you'd taken the time to educate yourself before writing this failed exercise in mind-reading you might have learned that this is Joseph's MO. Numerous previous examples of his bullshit have come to light since this story broke.
The title wasn’t flypaper for white people, it was flypaper for people like you, who endorse this kind of behaviour uncritically because you’re too short-sighted to think about how it affects the psychology and social standing of black people.
I didn't say anything about respectful behaviour. If he wants to trade insults with her for a while, sure. Who cares. It's only his own time he's wasting. But what you don't seem to understand, is that when this kind of thing is treated as normal, it a) gives ammunition to racists who want to point out how weak and unreasonable black people are, and b) projects black people as spiteful weaklings.
You, madam, are siloed in your failure to think. And I'm genuinely sad about it, because it means you can't see any nuance in these situations. It's just (the irony isn't lost on me) black or white for you. A black man says "racism" so it's racism. And there's no possibility that this guy is a selfish narcissist who doesn't have black people's best interests at heart.
