I spend a lot of time wondering why more people don't fully understand this very obvious fact.

As you say, none of us knows how others experience the world, so the idea that you know with certainty, often at a very young age, that you "feel" a way that 50% of the planet allegedly feels, is bizarre. And even more bizarre is that we know this is bizarre when talking about any other characteristic.

If I said I "feel" white, people would assume I suffered from some deep sense of self-loathing or internalised racism. If I said I "feel" like a six-year-old, people would, at the very least, send me to a psychiatrist. But tomorrow, if I said I "feel" like a woman, people would tell me I'm stunning and brave and anybody who even asked if I'm sure would be called a bigot.

p.s. thanks for introducing me to hyperphantasia and topographical disorientation. I'd never heard of either. Fascinating how differently we go through life.
