I think it goes a little deeper than that. Some are just racist, true. But some mistakenly believe that the answer to every problem or disparity is racism. This leads them to see racism where it doesn’t exist and yes, often to enact policies which end up being racist.

The sad thing for me is that some of these people genuinely have their hearts in the right place but are just horribly confused about what the end goal is. Or likely, haven’t given any thought to the end goal.
