I think it's just a question of carving out that space. Yes, I was born in England, although I've lived in a number of countries including America. Racial issues are definitely different in America compared to other parts of the world.
But my issue with "wokeness" is that it makes these issues harder to solve, not easier. It's divisive and simplistic and historically illiterate and, I think, does more harm than anything else to black people. I'll gladly be called an Uncle Tom every now and then to point that out. Especially as the idiots who use the phrase don't actually know the story of Uncle Tom. Otherwise they'd know he was a hero.
