I think it’s pretty simple in the end. Slavery and Jim Crow gave America a unique relationship with racism that it hasn’t managed to address.

Some people want to just move on without addressing it, and others want to hold on to the pain and anger of those events forever. Most sane people are stuck in the middle somewhere.
