๐Ÿ˜ I was just talking about this with somebody else. But I don't think so. The issue isn't whether immigration should be allowed, I certainly think it should be. I think trans people should be able to be legally recognised as the sex that feels right for them. My issue is simply the standard by which that recognition is granted.

Imagine if, to become an American citizen, all you had to do was "identify" as American. This simple declaration immediately granted you the same rights and legal status as any other American, you got handed your new passport at the border, the whole lot. This, regardless of any criminal record or even if you'd committed terrorist acts against the United States in the past.

How long do you think it would be before previously pro-immigration people started speaking up? And worse, how much damage do you think this would do to perceptions of immigrants who had nothing to do with this insane policy?
