I'm not quite sure whatyou're trying to say here. I mean firstly, the line above is ridiculous. I had the misfortune of reading the same article and let's just say I disagree with almost everything she says in it. If you expect to see racism everywhere, you start to see it everywhere. This doesn't mean it really is everywhere.

I also think the word racist has become overloaded. Everybody who believes that people of a different colour are inferior or evil or some other negative trait knows they're racist, yes. But none of those people are reading articles on Medium trying to figure out how to unravel it. I'm reluctant to describe people who are trying to figure out how to fight racism as racists.

On the other hand, people who believe that it's their duty to be saviours to us poor black folks, more often than not believe that black people are inferior too, they're just trying to be nice about it.

In both cases, it's very rare that anything substantive gets done. I think the Robin Di'Angelos of the world have given people who feel guilty about their racsm this wonderful "get out of jail free" card, where simply admitting they're racist feels like work.

Judging others is a human flaw, not a white one. The author of the article you mention is horrendously guilty of judging people based on the colour of their skin. She's also a perfect example of the kind of person who writes articles which serve no purpose but to make black people feel angry or helpless or victimised.

We need to challenge our prejudices. We need to create sysems which help us to override our unconscious biases. We need to call out genuine racism whenever we see it. All of this is true. My point is this isn't a black vs white issue. It's a racist vs non-racist issue.
