I'm not really sure how this theory holds together if this is what the "elites" are afraid of. How did Trump achieve this? I'd argue that he's been the greatest amplifier of this horizontal anger that politics has ever seen.
Also Trump absolutely fancies himself as a corporate baron himself. He'd have been the easiest leader in history to manipulate with a little money.
Sanders? Maybe, but I think it's pretty clear that the "Smash Capitalism" movement is just revolutionary ideation. None of these people are serious about anything but screeching on Twitter.
I'm not including Sanders in that bunch, but I think that real world support for anything that drastically shifted economic structures would be far lower than the socialists are imagining.
