😅 I'm not sure I'd go that far! My n-word pass is in good standing. But I still don't use it, because I know it truly upsets some people. And I still think most decent people would avoid using it. Just like any other slur, I don't think it's a word anybody should want to use. I don't call women bitches, I don't call gay people queer, so on and so forth.

But I wouldn't think twice about reading a line in a story that had the word "bitch" in it. And if I did, I don't think any of the women around me would storm out of the room in tears.

I respect people enough to both avoid words that might hurt them whenever possible, and expect them to be capable of recognising context when I'm quoting from a book or relating what somebody else said. It's the Pavlovian response to this word that's truly debilitating.
