I'm very tempted to dismiss you out of hand right here. First, Adams isn't a comedian. I don't think he'd categorise himself as a "professional humorist" at all. And second, he was very, very obviously not joking when he made those comments. That doesn't mean he expected white people in their millions to pack their bags and move away from black people, obviously, but to claim this was just a misunderstanding of his sense of humour is wilfully disingenuous. If that's the "main context" you think is missing, I think we're good here.

There are thousands of ways to get attention. Not to mention that with nearly 1 million followers on Twitter alone (almost all of whom were pre-segregation talk), and his wildly popular comic, Adams already has attention. If he wanted to start a more productive conversation about race relations, he could have just started it. No need for the "attention grabbing" racism. Certainly not based on a single, obviously misleading poll (which Adams then further misled people about).

Adams' comments are no more likely to spark a productive conversation about race than Jeong's or Khilanani's or Mystal's.

I have listened to Adams' words. As I said, I've been listening to him for approx 23 months longer than you have. Just because I'm not as easily duped as you are doesn't mean I've taken my opinion from somebody else. An extremely superficial glance at his public statements over the past few weeks would show you that he's contradicted himself with regards to his views on this poll and the degree to which it influenced him. If your "deep dive" took you back far enough to hear some of his takes on COVID and politics, you already know how hilariously wrong some of his "long term thinking" is. Though, of course, if you're already biased in his favour you might miss this.

Anyway, I strongly suspect that you're more interested in justifying Adams' comments than you are in having an honest conversation about them, and I don't want to waste my time. So if I don't reply to anything else you have to say, that's why.
