I'm with you about 85%. The only caveat I have (but it's an important one) is that many poor black people were impoverished deliberately.

It's not like they were given a fair shake and things didn't work out, it's that they were legally and systematically disadvantaged for centuries. The plight of many poor African Americans today is directly attributable to Jim Crow and redlining. That's why I think that there should be some special efforts at making amends.

But as I said, I'm largely in agreement. Many racial disparities we see today are hard to separate from class and wealth disparities. A system where Jeff Bezos can pay zero dollars in income tax and claim $4000 for his children is fundametally broken. And fixing it would help poor people of all colours. Which it should.

If I could only choose one, I'd choose to see all poor people enriched. I want to see that regardless. In 2021, wealth inequality is a far bigger injustice than racism in my opinion.

But I'd also like to see black people get some measure of justice. That's a different set of broken systems to fix.

Regarding BLM, your timing is perfect. Keep an eye out at The Commentary over the next few days 😉
