In very broad terms, I agree that the demand for a quick one-liner is silly. Not because it's not easy to do, but because sure, it's a gotcha for trans people that's often used in bad-faith.
When I meet trans women in real life I use feminine pronouns because why the hell wouldn't I? But the reason why the word itself is important is that women, in the "adult human female" sense of the word, are different to males.
So, for example, in sport, the issue isn't the "Western cultural experience" or some abstract postmodernist deconstruction of culture, it's about material realities that we have to still be able to acknowledge.
I think there are vanishingly few people, especially women, who would have any issue using trans women's pronouns and being respectful and treating them according to their gender identity in 99% of cases.
I think the reason why there's this growing backlash is the refusal to even admit the existence of areas where their sex is relevant
