Israel is the least safe place in the world for Jews by far. It is so incredibly moronic to argue otherwise, especially after October 7th. And it is unsafe, not because they are Jews, but because their country is built on violent, dehumanising brutality.
Talk about the evil of Hamas all you like, I'll join you, but Hamas only exists because of Netanyahu's desire to thwart the existence of a Palestinian state. This, as Jabotinsky noted, is 100% consistent with Zionism's true aims.
Yes, there is antisemitism in the world. There's racism too. And misogyny. I stand, as I have always stood, against all forms of discrimination. But if some of the people practising that discrimination happen to be Jews or black or women, you'd better believe I'll call them out with every ounce of rhetorical force at my disposal.
So yes, it is fun to correct bigoted morons with the rhetoric of the very bigoted ideology they're trying to defend.
And my issue with the early Zionists isn't that they "underestimated the evil of the Nazis." It was impossible for any sane person not to underestimate the evil of the Nazis. Because their evil was beyond anything we'd seen in living memory and quite possibly in human history. My issue with the early Zionists, and even some of the later ones, is that with that example burned into their souls, they chose to emulate the evil of the Nazis, in principle if not in scale, instead of learning from it.
