Israel is trying to eliminate Palestine. And as that's where Palestinians live, they're willing to kill and/or ethnically cleanse Palestinians. Especially because they can't integrate the Palestinian population into that new Greater Israel because that would mean they risked losing their Jewish majority.
And if, after all this time, you still believe that Israel is trying to eliminate Hamas, I have several bridges to sell you. Even the official IDF spokesman recently admitted that Israel can't eliminate Hamas. This was obvious to any objective onlooker pretty much as soon as Israel began its bombing campaign. You can't eliminate a group that hates Israel by killing the children and destroying the homes of the people who live next-door to Israel. At best, you might create an equally hateful group with a different name.
And there are ~2 million Arabs living as second-class citizens in Israel. The "peace" you mention is a peace built on accepting Jewish supremacy. In fact, the Israeli government passed a law in 2018 spelling out the fact that Arabs have no right of self-determination in the land of Israel.
