It's not that nobody can attack somebody using a human shield, it's that killing thousands of children in indiscriminate bombing of civilian targets, without even attempting other options, and then saying, "We couldn't help it, al the civilians we killed were human shields," is psychotic.

I mean, imagine the person you love most in the world. Imagine that a terrible criminal is facing the police, guns drawn, and he grabs that person and uses them as a "human shield." How would you feel if the police just unhesitatingly shot through them to kill the criminal? How sympathetic would you be to the argument that the police bear no responsibility for killing your loved one?

Israel's bombing campaign is far from the only way they could have responded to Hamas' attack. The rhetoric used by members of the Israeli government, right up to Netanyahu himself, demonstrates a clear disdain for the lives of Palestinians. And those Palestinians are every bit as innocent as the Israelis killed on October 7th.
