Man, I'm sorry, I've been replying to people on the internet for so long that I'm completely immune to this kind of guilt tripping. If I wasn't interested in engaging with people, I wouldn't have spent the last couple of days replying to you (along with hundreds of other people by the way), when I could be doing any number of other things with my time.

In case I haven't already said it enough times, I don't have any problem with you at all. I'm not pointing fingers, I'm not demanding anything from you, I'm not saying you aren't a good person. You seem like a perfectly nice guy. Our conversation has been nice and civil which already puts you up there in terms of people I've met on the internet. YOU'RE the one who brought up the white people with the BLM signs on their lawns, I just don't buy your attempt to distance yourself from them.

Why do you think those people are risible? Because they talk a good game but don't actually do anything! At least that's my issue with them. Yet here you are, talking to a stranger on the internet saying, "Where should I go? What should I do? Why don't you devote however many hours would be required to convince somebody you've never met that racism causes problems in people's lives?" As little as I know about you, you seem like a smart guy. I don't know where you live, I don't know what you're interested in doing, I don't know where your talents lie, how should I know how to advise you? Why don't you do a little research for yourself?

Contact your children's school and make sure they aren't getting involved in some draconian "inclusive excellence" programme. If they are, have a strong enough knowledge of CRT that you can calmly and compassionately argue against it (even if they're not doing this right now I'd keep this skill in my back pocket. They're coming for all the schools eventually). Do a Google search for black community projects in your area. Ask if they need volunteers. Be a mentor to black children who lack role models, you'll make a huge difference in their life and how they view white people. Send an email to the NAACP! Tell them you want to help. It's not that it's hard to figure out what to do, it's just hard to DO IT.

And yet again, I'm not trying to give you a hard time about this. I can think of at least five worthy causes right now that I think are important, yet I'm not doing anything about them. They're not high enough on my list of priorities. I'm human. I'm busy. That's allowed. What I'm NOT doing however, is commenting on articles about those problems and telling the author that I'm not convinced their problem exists.
