Mark, please understand that reading any analogy this literally will mean you badly miss the point. As you have here. It's adorable that you think you need to tell me to read Du Bois so I can understand the history of slavery.

The article is about oppression and the sometimes awful ways people react to it. As well as being an oppressor and the ways that people who are genuinely good can be blind to their oppressive behaviour. The exact specifics of the oppression, and therefore almost this entire comment, are irrelevant to the point being discussed.

Also, please stop using "Jews" as a synonym for "Israel". If you are dismayed to see the rise in antisemitism as a result of Israel's actions, as I am, consider that this constant conflation of Jews and Israel, espoused, more than anybody, by Jews themselves, contributes to that.

If someone has legitimate criticism of the state of Israel, and you continually imply that Israel and Jews are the same thing, some of them will n=be stupid enough to believe you. And it won't have the effect you're hoping for.
