Maybe because you were lucky or intelligent or oblivious enough not to be affected by the messaging. I don't feel emasculated either. And I was therefore never drawn to the Andrew Tates of the world.
But millions of boys are drawn to people like that because they aren't lucky enough to be receiving proper guidance or having their emotional needs met elsewhere. And the pervasive messaging that they don't deserve empathy is part of that problem.
This is like the inverse of the "well, if white privilege exists, why aren't I a millionaire with a corner office?" argument, right? People's experiences and their reaction to those experiences differ. Especially when those people are young and vulnerable and easily manipulated.
