Me too. I was just chatting with somebody about how teaching children about confirmation/availability bias, along with some basic statistics, would go a long way to achieving this.
It's not that humans are inherently pessimistic, it's that we're really bad at contextualising information sometimes. And the news often leans into that cognitive flaw for ratings.
