😂 My use of the word "idea" had been bothering me ever since I posted it. As you say, it wasn't quite right, but I wasn't sure what to use instead. Then, last night, I changed it to "mindset." Still not perfect, but better.

As Martin Luther King said, there are two sides to the fight against racism.

"...if the problem is to be solved then in the final sense, hearts must be changed. Religion and education must play a great role in changing the heart. But we must go on to say that while it may be true that morality cannot be legislated, behavior can be regulated.."

The second part of the equation is vital. Laws, policies, society has to be moved as much as possible away from racist actions. But there's too little talk about the first part; changing hearts. That's just as important, but it's much more uncomfortable.

Maybe that's why people are so busy pretending that the "old racism" is still as bad as it was during slavery so there's no time to do that hard work.
