No! It is absolutely not the same! I've explained this multiple times now. There are lots of businesses and spaces where you can't open carry alcohol. Often for reasons that have nothing to do with Islam. Because carrying alcohol in your hand as opposed to in a bag is not a protected characteristic.

So no, it's not about the anti-alcohol stance of Muslims. It's about the fact that requiring customers to put their alcohol in a bag is not discriminatory. I'm not a Muslim, but I could set the exact same stipulation in my cab if I were a cab driver.

But if I said "no gays or Christians or white people (or any other protected characteristic), in my cab," that would be discriminatory. Because religion and skin colour and sexuality are protected characteristics. It has nothing to do with a focus on "identity."

Sorry man, I can't explain this any more simply.
