No. This is not the problem. Most obviously because when religious people fight, they fight using weapons created by science. An actual battle between religion and science would be fairly one-sided unless god decided to intervene.
And again, I'm not arguing in defence of the West. I'm not saying that a secular worldview creates a utopia. I'm saying that a world without religion would clearly be a better, more sane world than a world with religion.
We can have kindness and love and charity without religion. And as religious fanatics have proven over and over again, you can be religious without showing kindness and love and charity.
But you can't get millions of people to believe that if you blow yourself up, along with a bunch of innocent people, an invisible man will give you eternal life in a magical land with 72 virgins.
You can't get millions of people to believe that if they wear condoms to protect themselves from AIDS in Africa, a slightly different magical man will send them to an eternal land of fire.
And you can't get millions of people to believe that a slightly different invisible man, who also created the universe in a week, gave them a strip of land and they're entitled to kill anybody who disagrees.
These ideas are only available to the religious.
