No. This is the mistake that I think you, and many, many other people are making. You cannot say that racism was part of the context because the presss said so.
First of all, this demonstrates a downright dangerous faith in the press. Especially considering how obviously biased and inaccurate reporting is getting. I mean, in this case alone there were reports that Rittenhouse shot three black men, that Rittenhouse was a cop, that his mother drove him Kenosha, and lots more. All of it demonstrably false. You can find som examples in the article where I write about inaccurate reporting.
And second of all, it's almost impossible to find a high profile case nowadays where somebody isn't trying to shoehorn a racial motivation into it. That doesn't mean there is one. It means the press is more motivated by outrage and advertising dollars than the truth.
Racial issues should be left out of cases that have nothing to do with racial issues. This is good not only for the specific cases, but also for the times when we actually need to talk about genuine racial issues.
