Nobody who was actually paying attention, understood the law, and hadn't been duped by the criminally inaccurate news coverage, thought he would be convicted. Not because of "white supremacy", or even its effects, but because it was absolutely obvious he wasn't guilty of the charges.

As I've said countless times by now, the law is a mess. And yes, the kid was guilty of "something". But unfortunately, it's the job of the prosecution to charge him correctly. And charging him with first degree intentional homicide, when there's widely available video evidence of him being attacked first, was just an incredibly stupid move.

The only charge they could have got him on was the misdemeanour gun charge. He got off that on a technicality. This is the kind of thing, that if people weren't so busy yelling "white supremacy" at problems that have nothing to do with it, they could probably quite easily campaign to change.
