Nope, I'm going to reply because I'm not assuming you're toxic or, in fact, jumping to any conclusions about your character. I'm also going to reply because I'm interested in conversation instead of just assuming everybody who thinks even 1% differently to me does so out of hate.

I can't name a "super harmful trans activist" who has 14 million followers. What now? Did you make a point? But seeing as you decided to indirectly bring JK Rowling into this, she's an absolutely perfect example of what I'm talking about.

JK Rowling wasn't an activist. She liked a couple of tweets and was brutally dogpiled by trans Twitter for it. She wrote a careful, compassionate essay trying to explain her position and that her comments weren't about hating trans people, and she was inundated with death threats and abuse (mostly from people who didn't even read the essay). She was erased from her own life's work.

I've absolutely noticed the more anti-trans turn she's taken in the last few months/year. What I find absolutely fu**ing incredible is that none of the people still attacking her have ever stopped to ask themselves, if they are responsible for it. If their absolutely abhorrent harassment has anything to do with that turn. There's only so long you can brutally attack somebody before they're like "you know what? Screw you."

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about in the article. Rowling had issues with self ID. Not trans people. And you made her into an enemy rather than talk to her. Her 14 million followers say, first hand, how vicious and abusive the online trans community could be, and noticed that not a single prominent reason person called for any degree of moderation. Many of those 14 million people have never met a trans person in their lives and this is the only example they have of what trans people are like.

Yes, I've never denied that there is horrible discrimination against trans people. I saw a story just the other day about a kid who killed a trans woman he went on a date with after discovering she was trans. I see the attacks on trans healthcare. I also see why more people aren't objecting to them. I see why more people don't grasp trans issues well. Because the conversations that might help people understand have been all but outlawed. And all people like you ever do is screech that people hate you.

What's so messed up about all this is how blind you are. There is nothing in your mind between blind, unthinking apologist for everything that trans people ever do, and somebody who's just like Matt Walsh who wants trans people to disappear from the earth. It's so infuriatingly childish and stupid. I'm on your side. But I'm telling you that you're hurting your own cause with millions of people. And I have a point, whether you like it or not.
