Not sure which article you're talking about, but maybe this is a reference to the fact that Israel helped fund Hamas originally because they wanted to weaken the PLO and Fatas.

There's a decent article about it here. I think any suggestion that Israel is currently supporting Hamas is a conspiracy theory. But there are plenty of those around.

And if you're referring to this article when you say Hamas want the destruction of Palestinians, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that Hamas don't care about Palestinians. They're a group of bloodthirsty gangsters who want the destruction of Israel. If Palestinians die to achieve that goal, Hamas couldn't care less.
