Oh, of course. I wouldn't dream of sugesting that there weren't. And yes, the fact that vicitms of police shootings are so often negatively portrayed is kind of my point. It's as if people are trying to say that because this black person wasn't perfect, the racism they faced doesn't count.
What I'm trying to point out is the importance of separating these concepts. If somebody behaves badly, fine. Judge them on their behaviour. That's separate from the issue of whether they were the victim of racism or whether we should excuse the person being racist.
Every human interaction is going to be mulit-layered. We can't just expect to find a clear-cut "good guy" and "bad guy" in these situations.
